Kara - Honey

Honey is a killer song by the pretty Korean Kpop girl group Kara. Honey has amazing electronic instrumental and good vocals to go along with it. The song was Kara's first number one single according to M.Net's M Countdown. It achieve this number one spot in March 2009. The song was released in February 2009, so its rise to number one was fast. Compared to the previously release mini album, Kara - Pretty Girl it was a huge success. Pretty Girl while successful, but did not quite achieve the comercial success that Honey did. Also noticeable, the style and sound of Honey compared to Pretty Girl and Rock U is a stark comparison.

Honey shows the girls: Park Gyu Ri, Han Seung Yeon, Nicole Jung, Koo Ha Ra, and Kang Ji Young as young femine mature girls, compared to the tween marketing approach of Pretty Girl and Rock U. So what is the song about? Honey right? Yes honey. Just kidding.

Honey is about a girl having a crush on a guy. Simple as that. A rough translation shows the song to be about how nervous they get arond the guy they like and how they try and hide it, but it is no use they want there one and only honey. If this song was translated into English I have no doubt that it would be a big hit here in the states as it was in South Korea. The song rose much faster than Pretty Girl, according to Kara's band leader Park Gyu Ri because the song appeals to an "older audience" which is quite apparant.

If your reading this, then more than likely you have no idea how to speak Korean, but I am sure you will find these songs terribly addictive though you have no idea what they are saying. Honey by Kara is just one of those songs. You will be thinking in your head "oh baby, honey, honey, honey". Check out the video below
